- Variable voltage. The one feature worth paying for. It’s usually a twist dial at the base or a button that cycles through three settings.
- Preheat. A low-power warm-up that loosens thick or cold oil and clears light clogs.
- Draw type. Auto-draw fires when you inhale; button batteries give you more control and usually the preheat function.
- Thread and fit. 510 is the standard screw thread. Wide 2 g carts don’t fit every recessed battery, so check the opening.

The guides agree on the principle even where the numbers differ by a tenth: start low and work up. Low voltage protects terpenes, which is the whole point of buying live resin or rosin. Higher voltage makes more vapor and, past a point, a burnt taste. Higher voltage doesn’t add THC to the oil.

What isn’t a 510 battery

What is the best voltage for a 510 cartridge?
For most THC carts, 2.4 to 3.2 volts. Run live resin and rosin at the low end, around 2.4 to 2.8, and standard distillate a little higher.
Is 3.4 volts too high for THC carts?
For live resin and rosin, yes. For thick distillate it’s near the top of what guides suggest. If the vapor tastes burnt, turn it down.
Does higher voltage make you more high?
It makes more vapor per puff, so you take in more oil at once. It doesn’t change the THC in the cart, and it burns off terpenes.
