Same process, different plant

The Capital Dank says the same, cured resin from dried and cured cannabis, live resin from material frozen after harvest. Everything after that is shared: a hydrocarbon solvent pulls cannabinoids and terpenes out together, and the solvent is purged.
Drying and curing change the plant. Some of the lightest terpenes evaporate, and the flavor settles into what smokers recognize from a jar. Freezing skips that step. Wallflower describes the result well: cured resin gives a rich, developed, classic profile, while live resin captures a bright snapshot of the plant at its freshest.
Is one better?
Gage Cannabis Co. gives the most honest answer among the guides we read: generally speaking there is no clear-cut difference in quality or potency between the two, and it comes down to preference. Two practical points are better established. Vaping360 notes cured resin takes longer to produce, because of the drying and curing, but yields more, which is why it tends to cost less. Zen Leaf adds that live resin is usually the more viscous, sap-like oil.
