Why Gelato comes with numbers
When a breeder grows out a cross, every seed is a slightly different plant. The keepers get numbers. Leafly notes that a number of Gelato phenotypes have been released since it first appeared, and three of them have become names in their own right.
One caution. You’ll see Larry Bird attached to #41 in places. The sources we trust put it on #33, and we follow them.

Breeders name the cut when it matters to them, and that’s the clearest sign the cuts aren’t interchangeable. Ice Cream Cake is Wedding Cake × Gelato #33. Gelonade is Lemon Tree × Gelato #41, and Gushers is Gelato #41 × Triangle Kush. Mochi Gelato is one parent of Horchata.
Is Gelato 33 or 41 better?
Nobody can answer that with evidence, and anyone who claims to is describing one grower’s version. What we can compare is what’s on the shelf. The #33 we carry is a Slerp live rosin cart that tested at 74.8% and costs $45. The #41 is a Charge Bar distillate cart that tested at 86.1% for $19.95. The twelve-point gap is rosin against distillate. It says nothing about the cuts.
Mochi comes from Fernway as a live resin cart with no published figure. Under the plain Gelato name there’s more choice: 8 vapes, led by Jeeter disposables that tested at 91.8%, and a Gelato #33 cart from Mitten Extracts at $10.
How to read a Gelato label
Most brands don’t say which cut they grew. Jeeter’s listings just say Gelato. Mitten Extracts prints Gelato #33 on its carts, and a hemp-derived Papa’s Herb pen is sold as THCa Gelato 33. If the number matters to you, buy from a brand that prints it, and treat an unnumbered Gelato as exactly that: the cross, cut unknown.
