Two branches of the Chem family
Leafly, AllBud and the other sources we checked agree on GMO’s parents: Chemdawg crossed with Girl Scout Cookies, sometimes specified as the Forum cut. AllBud rates it heavily indica, around 90/10.
GG4 isn’t a cross of two strains. Leafly, AllBud and most strain guides give three, Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel, and several describe the cross as unplanned, with #4 the phenotype that was kept. AllBud rates it about 63% indica. Chem’s Sister on one side, Chemdawg on the other: that’s the family link.
What the names mean
Both strains have more names than most. GMO is commonly read as garlic, mushroom, onion, after how it smells; Leafly files it as GMO Cookies and lists GMO Garlic Cookies and Garlic Cookies as the same strain. GG4 was sold as Gorilla Glue #4, and Leafly, AllBud and SeedFinder now list it as Original Glue, with GG4 the short form most menus use.
