Two origin stories, one strain
Sour Diesel's parentage is argued over more than most. The version you'll see most often, including on Wikipedia, is Chemdawg 91 crossed with Super Skunk. The grower credited with spreading it, known as AJ, has described it differently: an accidental cross of Chemdawg 91 with DNL, a line that itself carries Northern Lights, Shiva and Hawaiian. Both accounts put Chemdawg 91 at the center of it.
The name is earned. Descriptions agree on a pungent, fuel-like smell with a citrus edge, and it's widely shortened to Sour D.
