Two origin stories, both unfinished
OG Kush’s exact pedigree has never been settled. AllBud and most other sources give Chemdawg × Hindu Kush; Leafly adds Lemon Thai to the mix, and AllBud itself notes the parentage is unconfirmed. Chemdawg is the part everyone agrees on.
Bubba Kush is murkier still. AllBud lists its parentage as unknown. Other sources offer competing guesses: an OG Kush crossed with an indica that’s often said to be Northern Lights, or Afghan and Kush genetics more generally. We don’t pick one. If the first guess is right, Bubba Kush is OG Kush’s child, but nobody can show it.
The label problem
Here’s the odd thing about OG Kush. The databases call it a hybrid, and AllBud even puts it slightly on the sativa side at 55/45. Yet every OG Kush listing we carry that states a type says indica. Bubba Kush, which the databases do call indica-leaning, is labeled indica as well. On a menu the two look alike. In the references they don’t.
