Which strains are 100% sativa?
Three names on this list are landraces, varieties that grew in one place long before anyone bred them on purpose. Durban Poison comes from around the port city of Durban in South Africa, and Leafly and High Times both describe it as a pure sativa. Maui Wowie grew out of Hawaiian landrace genetics on Maui, where it has been cultivated since the 1960s. Acapulco Gold is a Mexican line that Wikipedia and CannaConnection put at about 80% sativa.
The rest are sativa-leaning hybrids. Blue Dream is Blueberry × Haze, about 60/40 by AllBud’s count. Jack Herer, bred by Sensi Seeds in the Netherlands in the 1990s and named after the activist and author, is rated 55% sativa by Leafly. Strawberry Cough is about 80% sativa, and Sour Diesel, Pineapple Express, Green Crack and White Widow all sit in between.
The Haze family runs through it
Follow the family trees and one name keeps turning up. Blue Dream and Strawberry Cough each have a Haze parent. Jack Herer is a Haze crossed with Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk. Super Lemon Haze, which Green House Seed Co. bred from Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze, carries it twice over. If a sativa list feels like it repeats itself, that’s why.

One caution on the label itself. Purple Haze, a sativa-leaning classic, is sold on this site as sativa, as hybrid and as indica, depending on the brand. Sativa on a box is a style note, not a test result.
